The attitude of Stoke-on-Trent’s Cuts Coalition of Labour, Tory, Lib Dem and Independent councillors to the effects on ordinary working class people of slashing jobs & cutting services was summed up by councillor Kieran Clarke’s outrageous statement in the Sentinel,
“Ideally you would want to make people redundant in August or September at the latest so the savings you would make would cover the redundancy costs”
No mention of the devastating effect that unemployment can have on workers and families. All that these people are interested in is ‘balancing the books’.
But none of these councillors were elected to carry out cuts or to get rid of jobs!
ALL of them will be up for re-election on 5 May and will be asking you to vote for them!
If elected they will be in office for FOUR years!
Do you want FOUR more years of cuts?
We say …..
Councillors who are not prepared to fight against the Con-Dem government’s cuts should stand aside and support Anti-Cuts candidates who will!
Across Britain the Trade Unionist & Socialist Coalition (TUSC) will be standing anti-cuts candidates where necessary.
Activists, trade unionists and community campaigners will be standing TUSC candidates in the local elections on 5 May across Stoke-on-Trent.
Any TUSC candidates elected will vote NO to cuts & propose a ‘needs budget’ instead
Come along to the TUSC public meeting on 21 March to find out more
Monday 21 March – 7-30pm
The White Star (upstairs) 63 Kingsway, Stoke ST4 1JB
