500 sign petition to stop £1.2 billion sell-off of NHS front line services in Staffordshire!

More than 500 people have already signed a petition calling for an end to the government’s plan to hand over £1.2 billion of front line NHS services across Staffordshire to their mates in private companies.

Private firms will compete for the chance to make rich profits from delivering cancer and end-of-life treatment for children and adults across the area.

The petition has been launched by Stoke & Newcastle Trade Unionist & Socialist Coalition (TUSC) supporters. And a public meeting hosted by Stoke & Newcastle TUSC has now been organised to draw up a plan of action to stop this sell-off! See below for details.

The University Hospital of North Staffs Branch of Unison would like to send this message of support to Stoke and Newcastle Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition in their bid to halt the tendering out of cancer and end of life care in Staffordshire by the CCGs. This is just one more step towards privatisation of the NHS as we know it, and a move which we must fight every step of the way to prevent another nail being hammered into the coffin of our public services.”

Steve Wheeler – Unite NHS Branch Secretary
Matt Wright – NHS Unison mental health worker
